Our Story

"A lucky, unlucky day" - written by Jamie

Tim and I started chatting on Match.com after he commented on a photo of my "Team America: World Police" Halloween costume - a movie you either love or hate. Tim and I think it's brilliant. We exchanged a few emails and set up a phone date. I called Tim the next night, and after 4 or 5 rings, he finally picked up. "Hel...Hellooo...?" Tim had fallen asleep. I told him I'd try him back another time, but he insisted he was up for a chat. As the consummate reporter, I peppered Tim with questions and he was a good sport. We made a date for that weekend, on, *gasp*, Friday, March 13th. We met at The Pilsner Room, just for happy hour in case I needed a timely exit. But that wasn't necessary. One happy hour, turned into many. We hit it off, and after dinner, we went to a pub to hear some live music. It was a perfect first date. Two days later, Tim showed up at my apartment with fresh salmon and asparagus. He cooked me dinner, we laughed and made plans for our next date. Six years later, we've made some incredible memories, and supported each other through big changes. Tim and I might be part fish because we both love water and can't get enough. Every summer, we rent a house on Lake Woahink or Lake Mercer in Florence, and share our favorite spot with a parade of friends. We love hosting gatherings at our own home which often end with a jam session, or around the fire pit. In 2018, after 20 years in the news business, I changed careers and joined the Providence PR team. Last fall, Tim finished his 5-year electricians training program and became a journeyman. Right after Tim's graduation, we sold a house and bought a house at the same time - a major test of our ability to work as a team. We passed the test, and then found our dream home - all during a pandemic. And we still liked each other after! Tim and I laugh every day. We lean on each other, and we can't wait to see what our future brings. We're so grateful and it all started on Friday the 13th - our lucky day.
