Jamie and Michael met by chance. Yes -they did meet on the Hinge dating app, however, what were the chances that Jamie would swipe yes on Michael? Jamie was still living in San Jose the summer of 2023. Michael was living in Rohnert Park. In order to get from San Jose (south bay) to Rohnert Park (north bay), you have to take one of the two bridges. Without traffic, the commute is about 1 hr and 45 minutes or so. With rush hour, oh goodness, it can increase up to 3 hrs. How did these two love birds decide to say “yes, I want to commute weekly to see you?” It turns out, Jamie thought Michael lived within 30 minutes of her since his profile had said he lived in Newark-a town in East Bay. Michael did not realize that one of his friends had changed his location in an effort to help him meet more people as he was finding no success in Sonoma County. Thus, through divine intervention, Jamie swiped yes on Michael as she thought “hmmm Newark? I can make that work!” Then they had their first telephone conversation in September 2023 after several weeks of texting. Jamie doesn’t just say yes to a phone call unless she finds it important enough. That phone call lasted about 2 hrs or so. Both sides felt things were flowing! That’s when Michael said “Jamie, I have to tell you something.” Jamie thought “red flag, red flag!” Michael then revealed that his location was inaccurate-he asked if Jamie had heard of Rohnert Park. Jamie said no. He then asked if she has heard of Sonoma County to which Jamie replied “you mean past the Golden Gate Bridge?” She was shocked at the distance because in her mind, Silicon Valley traffic takes sometimes a whole hour just to get through only 10 miles in rush hour. How could a relationship start with such a distance? However, to say the least, the rest is history. What captivated Jamie’s attention? She says it was how it felt like they have been friends for a long time even though they just met. There was a sense of peace that came over her when speaking with Michael. This was also true when they had their first date night at Yard House. She says it felt like it was two friends catching up after much time apart. Now for Michael-what made him say yes to commuting for a date with Jamie? Michael recalls how effortless it felt to talk with Jamie for hours on end over the phone. He loves her sweet voice and her smile that "could light up this whole town". Her sense of adventure, from her photos, motivated Michael to want to see even more of her. With every date, Michael began to discover different facets of Jamie that he loved. Whether it was her ability to tell captivating stories, or her spunkiness when standing up against upper management, Michael wanted to learn more about Jamie.
