Jamie and Jenna both decided to give the dating apps a good old try. They began messaging back and forth on Hinge, where their budding romance grew quickly. After their first date, Jenna canceled all the other Hinge dates she had planned. (She was a real hit with the ladies) Jamie was hesitant but very excited because Jenna was her first date off of the apps. As Jenna tells it to this day, she knew on the first date that Jamie was the one. Jamie took a little longer to warm up. They began going on dates in between both of their busy schedules. They put in the work. They lived anywhere from an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes from each other with traffic. They found a few hours here and there to make the drive or meet up halfway. Soon, Jamie was spending so much time at Jenna's that she started to leave clothes there. The weekends that Jamie didn't have her yoga teacher training courses, she would spend the night at Jenna's. They would go on dates around Evanston and soon started planning little getaways. They spent their first NYE kayaking (backwards) in Kentucky, spent Jamie's birthday in Sedona, and when Jenna's lease was up in June, they took off to dogsit all over the country. Their love of the outdoors and adventure brought them closer. It wasn't long before Jenna asked Jamie to marry her while they kayaked on the Colorado River in Austin, TX. After a fun and exciting weekend at ACL Fest, she decided she didn't want to wait any longer. It was the Monday following the festivities when she suggested a sunset kayak. They put in the kayaks and took off on a beautiful paddle. Soon Jenna came over to Jamie to show her a rock she had found on the side of the river. Jenna showed Jamie a pretty average rock, but Jamie, knowing Jenna's love for rocks, gave some enthusiasm in her response. Then Jenna said, "That rock is cool, but I found a better one." As she, over a flowing river, pulled out the engagement ring and asked Jamie to marry her. Jamie said, "A thousand times, yes!" Jamie and Jenna continued to paddle down the river and watched the most beautiful sunset take over the sky. It was the perfect engagement. The engagement encapsulated the essence of their love story so beautifully. Now, after more travel, a puppy, a car fire, a move from Asheville to Colorado, buying a home, and a mountain-top ceremony, they are incredibly excited to tie the knot with you all; on the beach, with the ocean singing behind, them as they say I do with you.
