FAQs

Question

What can I expect for the ceremony?

Answer

We'll be getting married in a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony as a full mass, while also incorporating some elements of Jamie's family's Syro-Malabar (Eastern Rite Catholicism) traditions such as the Manthrakodi (second sari) and minnu (a pendant on a necklace that signifies marriage in Kerala and most of South India). Mass will begin promptly at 2:30 and will last until 4.

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

If you'll only be coming into the city for the wedding, we recommend using public transportation or Uber/Lyft to get around! If you're extra ambitious, download the Cruise app for a driverless car after 10 PM. If you're hanging out for a while to visit the coast, wineries, or anything else the Bay has to offer, we'd definitely recommend renting a car! Just keep in mind it can be challenging to park in the city--there's plenty of garages (and you can use SpotHero) to find a place to park if needed.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

San Francisco tends to stay very mild, and October happens to be one of the warmer months! Always bring a light layer in case in turns cold, but the weather should be nice and mild throughout the weekend. We'll update this in case anything changes.

Question

Where could I find Indowestern or Desi Apparel?

Answer

So many places! Etsy and Amazon do have options, but if you're looking for more curation, I recommend a few online stores: Pernia's Pop Up Shop House of Indya Maya's Desi Boutique (also has a physical location in Euless, TX)

Question

Are there reserved colors?

Answer

Essentially none! Please come in whatever speaks to you. Bridesmaids will be wearing rust, saffron, and orchid if you'd really like to plan, but no need to avoid any of these colors.
