We’re thrilled to have you in Atlanta — in our neighborhood — for our wedding weekend. While we’ve only been to The Forth Hotel a few times, we loved the feeling of the space and knew it would be the perfect place to host our closest friends and family. This weekend is meant to be a celebration of us as individuals and as a couple – and of the people and experiences that shape us now and in the future. We’re so glad you’re here.
Our story began by finding ourselves, then finding each other. In the spring of 2021, David set out on a cross-country road trip, having recently left his job in Buffalo and in search of his next great adventure. One that took him from east to west, through several national parks, and in pockets of ‘home’ staying with friends along the way. There – on the road – he discovered new parts of himself and began thinking about what living outside of Buffalo might look like. A couple months later, he took a job in Atlanta and moved down just in time for New Year’s Day 2022. In early 2022, Jamie set out on adventures of her own. From Hilton Head, Savannah, and Miami to San Diego, Santa Barbara, and Sante Fe, she traveled the country in her own way celebrating family and friends. She made a stop in Austin along the way, choosing to take her first solo vacation to Miraval, a wellness retreat focused on mind, body, and soul. All of which felt like a culmination of the work she poured into herself over the years. There – in the company of her own thoughts – Jamie found a courage and a clarity in herself she had never known before. In their own way, each spent months setting intentions that would lead them to each other. That summer, the boy sent the girl a rose on Hinge with a slightly snarky message that elicited a laugh and a reply. A month later – once they each were done traveling some more – they went on their first date on July 5, 2022. He thought it would be dinner; she thought it would be drinks; three hours later, they were smitten. Over the next few months, each learned about the other and in doing so, learned more about themselves. Then one night, after a Bills win, dancing at The Warren, and a stroll through Virgina Highlands, they said, ‘I love you.’ From there, life took shape in the garden, in the kitchen, on a dance floor, through hiking paths, alongside long walks, in quiet moments, in cultivating a home together, and across the world. So when David asked Jamie to marry him, of course she said yes.
On December 13, 2024, David planned a date night that at Holiday Night at the Botanical Gardens – one of our favorite holiday traditions – but on our way, drove instead to our own garden. There, among baby’s breath, lilies, tulips, and a heart of purple flowers tied with rosemary from our own plant, he got down on one knee. With a ring we designed together—set with a diamond passed through Jamie’s family—he asked, “Will you marry me?” We toasted in the garden, snapped a few photos, and then headed to a surprise dinner. We spent the evening laughing, eating, and celebrating with friends and family who had flown in or gathered in Atlanta. It was, in every way, perfect.
