HOW WE MET

2/25/2020

I met Jamie while working at the check-in desk at our local gym called “The Forum” in 2020. I would always notice her big smile and try to say hi the first few times she visited, and after a while, I began to attempt at more and more small talk like showing her how our water fountains worked (like that’s hard) or asking her how she was enjoying our group classes. Following my innate and classic millennial behavior, I followed her on instagram and slid into her dms not long after she became a regular at the forum. Direct messages turned into an exchange of numbers and before long we had planned our first date for a workout together (at the forum, duh) followed by dinner at no mas cantina. The workout never happened because Jamie came down with the flu, but she still met up with me for dinner. What a trooper. The rest is history. - Cole

THE PROPOSAL

06/15/25

I picked up Jamie's ring from a diamond business down the street who my brother had used for his wife's engagement ring. After a little deliberation on size (her fingers are super tiny) I chose a radiant cut stone with what I was sure was the whitest clarity I'd seen for a diamond - I knew she would love it. We had it set in a yellow gold band with four smaller diamonds on each side and had my initial engraved on the inside of the band. We were coming up on our annual trip to Naples, Florida that June. Every year we'd head down for a week or so to visit Jamie's family, spend time by the beach and relax. I brought the ring with me, and after asking her parents for their blessing, a plan was set in motion. I wanted to propose during the first few days rather than wait till later in the week because I knew she'd love to have the whole week to share our story, stare at the ring, etc. We went to the beach Saturday night just before sunset. We'd made dinner reservations for the Ritz's ocean front restaurant Gumbo Limbo that night, so the plan was to enjoy a walk on the beach beforehand and I would propose to Jamie at sunset. Her parents joined us and Kris, Jamie's mom, had a camera in hand waiting for the moment (thanks Kris). Rain clouds were rolling in off the coast, the sun was setting and I knew it was time. We reached a point on the walk where we had both stopped to look into the water. I kicked off my sandals to mark a stopping point and told Jamie I wanted to ask her something very important. Immediately realizing what was happening, she kicked off her sandals and started jumping up and down as I got on one knee. "Will you marry me?" "Babe, yes, of course. Yes!"
