Our Story

Forwards to forever

Camila joined the Tufts women's rugby team during her first semester of college in 2014, thinking that it would be a great way to stay active, make friends, and hit people (in a socially acceptable way). In 2015, Jamie joined the team as a sophomore, and though Camila tried to impress them by knocking over a wooden pallet and spilling beer everywhere during their first interaction...Jamie was with someone else at that time. However, this gave both of them time to build a solid foundation as friends for the next year. Fast forward to summer 2016, when Jamie and Camila are now both single. They were some of the few students still on Tufts campus over the summer and began spending a lot of time together. At the end of the summer, Jamie decided to send a very bold text to Camila where they confessed their feelings for her, leading to a sweaty yet magical first kiss after rugby practice. The next few months were spent not falling for each other, but tumbling wildly into each other's arms, again and again, until suddenly the words "I love you" slipped from Camila's lips. "I love you" quickly turned into years of meeting each other's families, moving across the street from one another, and graduating from college. Jamie and Camila truly showed that they could go through anything and make it out even stronger than before. If Jamie's gender transition, the loss of a pet (miss you Red), mental health challenges, Camila's grad school, Jamie's grad school, several job changes, and that one time that Topaz pooped on their bed did not tear them apart... nothing will. Jamie and Camila have learned that love is not only a feeling, but also a choice. They consistently choose to show up for each other every second of every day, knowing that their love is the only thing they can always, always rely on. After the world's cheesiest rugby ball proposal in 2020 led to the world's longest engagement, Jamie and Camila are finally ready to tie the knot (even though they already got "paper married" in 2023 for health insurance). They are beyond excited to have a Big Gay Dance Party with all of you, and they appreciate the love, support, and community that you have all offered them over the past 8 years together. Thank you for reading their story, enjoy perusing their website, and don't forget to be awesome.
