FAQs

The Wedding Website of Jamie Jordan and Benoit Sabourin
Question

Is Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico safe?

Answer

Yes! Nuevo Nayarit is a very safe, tourist-friendly area with low crime rates and strong resort security. It’s just north of Puerto Vallarta and benefits from the same tourism-focused infrastructure and safety measures. The wedding will be hosted at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, a gated, all-inclusive resort with 24/7 security—perfect for a relaxing and worry-free getaway. As always, we recommend basic precautions like using official taxis or ride-shares and booking any activities or events outside of the resort through the resort or through well-established booking sites.

Question

Can children come?

Answer

While Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is a very family-friendly resort, we are hosting a child-free wedding due to venue and capacity constraints. You're absolutely welcome to bring your children along for your vacation, and we certainly encourage you doing so if it’s feasible for your family! They simply won’t be able to attend the wedding-day events. For those who would like to bring the little ones along, there are fantastic childcare options available at the resort: - Babysitting services for children under 4 (available for an additional fee) - A Kids’ Club and Teens’ Club open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, included with your stay You can find more info about these services on the resort's website. They consistently receive glowing reviews from people who have stayed at and reviewed the resort. Feel free to check out the reviews yourself for peace of mind! We hope this helps you plan a fun and relaxing getaway for the whole family—even if the little ones aren’t at the official festivities!

Question

Do we have to stay at the host resort?

Answer

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit requires all wedding guests stay at the resort on the nights that any wedding events are occurring (Friday & Saturday). However, we completely understand that it may not fit everyone’s budget to stay on-site any longer than those two nights. If you’re planning to turn the trip into a vacation, feel free to split your stay! There are plenty of great hotels in the area. You might consider staying off-site before or after the wedding; however, we encourage everyone to try to stay at least the following nights at Grand Velas for access to the wedding events and to spend time together: - Friday (January 22) – to attend the Welcome Reception - Saturday (January 23) – for full access to the wedding day festivities - Sunday (January 24) – if you’d like to relax and recover with everyone the day after We’re planning to have casual pool days and happy hours around the wedding weekend, so being on-site makes it easier to soak up extra time with friends and family! Jamie & Benoit plan to be at the resort from Wednesday to Monday.

Question

The nightly rate seems really high—why is the resort so expensive?

Answer

We know the price can feel like sticker shock at first glance—it’s over $1,100 per night per couple, which looks steep if you compare it to a typical hotel room rate. But Grand Velas is not a typical hotel—it’s a true all-inclusive luxury experience. Think of it less like booking a hotel room and more like booking a cruise: the rate covers nearly everything you’ll eat, drink, and enjoy throughout the day. From morning coffee and breakfast, to snacks and cocktails by the pool, to lunch, pre-dinner drinks, and a multi-course dinner with wine, cocktails, and dessert—every meal, drink, and treat is included. Add in 24-hour room service, your personal concierge, top-notch service, spa credits, and nightly entertainment, and you’ll quickly see how the value adds up. If you tried to recreate this on another vacation—whether at a luxury resort where every meal, drink, and amenity is billed separately (plus taxes & tip), or by piecing it together across restaurants, bars, beach clubs, and entertainment venues—you’d almost certainly end up spending the same or even more. Grand Velas simply rolls it all into one seamless, all-inclusive rate so you can relax and enjoy without worrying about surprise charges. But don’t just take our word for it—check out the 3,000+ five-star reviews on Google or the many video reviews on YouTube to see the experience for yourself. We know it’s an investment, but we chose Grand Velas because it was the one resort that truly guaranteed our guests an unforgettable stay—and we’re confident it will be worth it.

Question

What is included in the "all-inclusive" at the host resort?

Answer

At Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, “all-inclusive” means just that! The negotiated rate for your stay includes: 🤵 Personal concierge Available throughout your stay for anything you need 🍽️ All meals and snacks Gourmet restaurants + 24-hour in-suite dining 🍷 Unlimited beverages Includes premium wines, cocktails, and spirits 🧃 In-room mini bar Fully stocked and refreshed daily 💆 Daily spa credit $50 per night spa credit toward a daily 50-minute or longer service 🎭 Resort activities & entertainment Daily events, shows, and experiences included 🏋️‍♀️ Fitness, pools & beach access All amenities available to guests at no extra cost 💸 Gratuities, taxes, & fees The flat rate includes all taxes & fees (which can often be over $100 per night at luxury resorts); gratuity is also included--tipping is appreciated for great service but never expected (USD or pesos welcome) It’s a luxury, worry-free experience designed to let you relax and enjoy every moment. Question

When should I book my room at the resort?

Answer

We encourage all guests to reserve their rooms as soon as possible. Since our wedding falls during the resort’s busiest season (as the weather is gorgeous that time of year there!), they are unable to hold or guarantee a large room block for us. Once rooms are booked, they’re gone! To reserve, a one-night deposit is required, with the remaining balance due 45 days prior to the wedding date. The deposit is non-refundable. However, we’ve partnered with an excellent preferred travel advisor, Ian Ash, who can assist with any travel-related needs and help you secure affordable travel insurance—so you won’t lose your deposit if something unexpected prevents you from attending. Ian’s contact information can be found in the FAQ below.

Question

Do you have a travel agent who can help with travel planning or logistics?

Answer

Yes! For a seamless and stress-free travel experience, we encourage you to reach out to our preferred travel advisor, Ian Ash from Fora Travel. Ian is here to provide you with complimentary, priority assistance for all your travel needs — from booking flights and coordinating ground transfers to handling any pre-arrival planning you may require. Let him take the guesswork out of your trip so you can simply enjoy the celebration. You can contact Ian at ian.ash@fora.travel or (617) 336-3200.

Question

How do I RSVP and when is the deadline?

Answer

Shortly after you receive your physical invitation, please be on the lookout for a follow-up email with a “soft RSVP” link. Now that you have all the event details (date, location, logistics, costs, etc.), this initial RSVP is simply to indicate whether you anticipate being able to attend—at this point in time. Your honest response is essential as we work to finalize plans leading up to the wedding. Once you receive the email, please complete the form as soon as possible—and please be completely candid. We understand that attending may be challenging for some for one reason or another, and there will be no hard feelings if it’s not feasible for you 😊. We always knew that hosting a destination wedding might make it difficult for some guests to attend, so we truly mean it when we say we understand if it’s just too inconvenient. As the wedding date approaches, we’ll send a final RSVP request with a firm deadline, also shared via email. If you do not receive the email with the “soft RSVP” link, please contact us by any means so we can get it corrected!

Question

When are the wedding rates for the resort applicable?

Answer

The special wedding rates at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit are available for five days before and five days after the wedding—from Monday, January 18 through Wednesday, January 27, 2027. Feel free to come early, stay longer, and make a vacation out of it!

Question

What dates should I plan to arrive and leave?

Answer

We’ll be at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit from Wednesday, January 20 to Monday, January 25. We’d love for you to join us for the whole celebration—or as much of it as you can! The wedding day is Saturday, January 23, and we’ll be hosting a welcome reception on Friday, January 22 at 6:00 PM for those staying at the resort that evening. We recommend arriving by Friday afternoon at the latest so you can settle in and join us for the welcome festivities. Whether you’re planning a full vacation or a quick weekend getaway, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Question

For the suggested event attires, what do “Resort Elegant” and “Resort Formal” mean?

Answer

We know dress codes can be confusing, so we’ve got you covered! Resort Elegant For the Welcome Reception, we’re suggesting Resort Elegant attire. This is a polished, elevated look perfect for sunset dinners and celebrations by the beach. - For men: A collared shirt (polo or dress), long pants like slacks or khakis, and closed-toe dress shoes (no sandals or sneakers). - For women: Dresses or skirts, dressy jumpsuits, and elevated sandals or heels. Keep it chic and a step above casual! Note: The resort requires Resort Elegant attire for all gourmet dining experiences, so be sure to pack accordingly if you plan to enjoy the restaurants on-site. Resort Formal For wedding day activities, we recommend Resort Formal—a level up in sophistication, but still breathable for the warm weather. - For men: A button-down shirt, dinner jacket or blazer, slacks, and dress shoes. A necktie is not necessary or expected. - For women: Cocktail dresses, evening gowns, jumpsuits, or pantsuits. Think wedding-ready but beach-appropriate. 🔗 For more detail and visual examples, check out this helpful guide: https://www.algvtravelblogue.com/posts/what-to-wear-demystifying-resort-dress-codes/

Question

Can I bring a date/guest?

Answer

The guest list for our wedding activities is based on the name(s) included on the printed invitations. We included the partners/significant others of all guests. If your relationship status changes before the final RSVP is due, please just let us know. We’ll be happy to update guest information as needed. If you did not list someone as a significant other originally, but would now like to bring someone with you, please just reach out and let us know! We are happy to try accommodate everyone as best as we're able. We understand that traveling solo is not fun for many people; therefore, we will try our best to also incorporate any "plus-one" requests that we receive as best as possible!

Question

How far is the resort from the closest airport?

Answer

The closest airport is Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) in Puerto Vallarta, which is just a 15-minute drive from Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit. Puerto Vallarta—the largest nearby city—is a vibrant, beautiful destination full of culture, shops, beaches, and incredible food. We highly encourage you to explore it before or after the wedding festivities if your schedule allows. It’s only about 30 minutes from the resort by car and well worth the visit!

Question

What is the transportation situation from the airport?

Answer

Transportation from Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) to Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is easy and flexible. Options include: - Taxis readily available outside the terminal (cash preferred) - Uber, which operates in the area and is usually affordable - Private hotel transportation, which can be arranged directly through Grand Velas in advance for added convenience We recommend booking transportation ahead of time if you prefer a smoother, more comfortable arrival—especially during busy travel periods. Let us know if you’d like help coordinating!

Question

Should I bring a gift to the wedding?

Answer

Your presence at our wedding—especially making the trip all the way to Mexico—means the world to us. We know it requires time, resources, and effort, and for that reason, we consider your attendance the greatest gift of all. If you're joining us in person, please do not feel obligated to purchase or bring a wedding gift—truly, being there to celebrate with us is more than enough. For those still interested or not attending who would like to send a gift (though again, no pressure at all!), our registry lists can be found on this site. Each registry offers the option to ship gifts directly to our home. If you choose to do so, please be sure to include a gift note so we can thank you properly! We are so grateful for your love and support, whether from near or far.

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes! You can find our registry information on the Registry tab of this site above.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Of course! Once the final RSVP is sent via email, we will collect any dietary restrictions from all guests planning to attend.
