We met in a Israeli martial arts class called Krav Maga. I was taking the class to prepare for Police academy and he was taking the class to maintain his skills is a variety of martial art techniques. We met in January at class and I asked him if he wanted to be my partner. I wanted a partner who was bigger and stronger than me. I wanted someone who could challenge me and not "go easy" on me. He looked like he fit the bill, and he did. It was great being his partner, he was skilled and helped me become a better fighter. In February, my brother and I went rock climbing before class, so he went to class with me but stayed in the car. After class Jon Fragoso asked to go to drinks, I was caught off guard and told him I couldn't because my brother was in the car and we were going to continue rock climbing that evening. Jon thought i had blown him off and for the next week I was eager to see him again to go to drinks. The next week after class I waited for him and asked if he still wanted drinks. We went out to drinks that night (February 14th) and hit it off. We discussed my desire to go into law enforcement as well as continue my education through my Master's degree. Throughout the academy Jon has been a great support and I could not have done it without his support. Another big connection we have is through God. We both were rediscovering our faith again for ourselves. Finding a partner who was also passionate about having a good relationship with God was important to both of us and something we talked about on our first date. Jon has been a great spiritual leader for me and continues to do so. I believe God has blessed me with someone I can trust and follow because I know God is leading him as well. I hope to be a spiritual support to Jon and support him in his career and interests the way he has supported me.
On Thanksgiving I had to work but my family had invited Jon to come over for the holiday. He took this opportunity to become a part of my family and also ask my dad for permission to marry me. Monday, 11/27/17, I got my cast off. So Jon told me to keep Saturday 12/2/17 free so that we can celebrate and have a date day. The gun show was in town and I had picked out a scope for him that I wanted to get him for his birthday. So we agreed that we should go to the gun show that morning and then go to the Museum and check out the new exhibits, then in the evening go to dinner at a new taco place. I thought that because the museum and the zoo were so close that it would be a great idea to also go to the zoo lights. Little did I know he had already purchased tickets to the zoo light's for 12/2/17 as a surprise for me. I pressed him to go to zoo lights and each time he told me that it would be too much to do in one day and neither of us wanted to be rushed. Friday my sister Valerie called me to go get our nails done. Saturday was a great day at the museum! We went to a taco place near the museum for dinner and it was delicious. After we ordered he told me he had a surprise, and pulled out the tickets to zoo lights! I was so excited and couldn't wait to go see the lights. Behind the scene...... Jon had planned the proposal around the beginning of the week. He wanted it to have a false summit type of proposal so he wanted the zoo to be the surprise so I didn't see the proposal coming. He asked his friend on Friday to go to the zoo to take pictures of the proposal, and asked my sister to invite me to get my nails done. He had picked out a beautiful tree lit up with white sparkling lights. He asked some people to take a picture of us at which time he asked if I was happy. I turned to him confused and said of course I am. He got down on one knee and asked me to make him the happiest man in the world. I was speechless and so excited. Caught completely by surprise!
I have an iguana, her name is Ziggy. I got her from my sister Vickie. I have two older sisters, Valerie and Vickie, and one younger brother Jonathan. I graduated from UCD with a bachelor's in psychology and working on my Master's in Counseling. I am working as a police officer for Denver. I am currently working the desk due to an injury but by the time the wedding roles around I should be off TO and on my own. :) I enjoy spending time with family playing cards but I also enjoy some quiet and relaxing time at home. I enjoy watching Netflix with Jon F. or having a glass of wine and a bath with a bath bomb! I enjoy reading! I like the fantasy books usually young adult books like Hunger games, Divergent, and twilight.:) Books like this I find motivating and inspiring, even though the main character is a bit dramatic. I love animals and truly believe the cure to a bad day is enjoying the company of an animal. I would love to have a ton of big dogs one day but we will see. :) I enjoy doing 5k's and color runs. I started running when I was training for police academy and find it's easier to enjoy running when you are running through a wall of bubbles or getting rewarded with a warrior metal and a beer. I also enjoy going to Krav Maga with Jon it's how we bond :) ha ha I really enjoy going to church as well, usually go on Saturday nights because it's less crowded and works best for our schedule. I find it recharges me for the week and gives me new ways to connect with God through the week. I am excited to see what the future holds for me and for Jon and our life together. But I am also very much enjoying the journey.
