This is one of our favorite systems of trails. Remember, you are at high elevation, so PLEASE DRINK WATER. For a fun shorter activity, you can hike the Mount Sanitas Valley Trail. From the top you can see Boulder and beyond. Feeling crazy? If you are acclimated (local term for being used to the altitude) and ready for a four hour adventure, try the Mount Sanitas trail. We commonly refer to this one as the "stair-master." From the top of this trail, you'll be able to see amazing views of the mountains on one side and the city of Boulder on the other.
This trail is where we like to go for a nice low key mountain stroll. This trail has a moderate incline but has wonderful views of the Flatirons (Boulder's prized mountain range) and has nice coverage. This trail is rated very highly by Boots.
This is a nice (and flat!) walk around beautiful Coot Lake. This is Boots' favorite swimming hole, and one of our favorite views of the mountains from the plains. This is a little ways outside of town (about 15 min drive) but certainly worth it. If you love nature, this walk also features a wildlife reserve for wetland species.
Want to take a trip to Amy & Jamie's alma mater? Amy went to CU for her undergraduate degree and Jamie went to CU for his law degree. Want to walk in our shoes? Stroll around this amazingly beautiful campus. If you see a large group of young people walking in a group, be sure to yell, "FRESHMAN" for the full experience.
BEST. BRUNCH.
BRUNCH. IT. UP.
Don't be fooled by the name, this is not the kind of coffee shop you're thinking of. This is the greasiest of greasy spoons. Don't forget to tell them it's your first time in, for a special surprise.
If your motto is, "death to decaf" than this is your happy place.
Are you the kind of person who wakes up thinking "NEED COFFEE NOW"? This is your spot.
Feeling touristy? We've heard that Chautauqua has more annual visitors than Rocky Mountain National Park. Wow! You can enjoy a hike here, or simply pull over and soak in the beauty of the Flatirons.
If you're thinking burgers and beers, the Mountain Sun is your spot. Pro tip: This place is cash only, so come prepared (But don't worry, there's an ATM inside if you forget).
Yummy yummy Pho!
Farm to table yumminess.
Want to take a trip to the roaring 20's? This bar is located in the basement of the Hotel Boulderado, built in 1908. This is your place if you love classy cocktails and beautiful buildings. Pro tip: This bar used to be called the Catacombs. You can drop this fact if you want to impress a local.
SUSHI. YAS.
Incredible Pizza, with negronis on tap!
Wings, beer, and whiskey.
This is our FAV restaurant in Boulder, small plate Japanese food. Very limited seating, but worth the wait.
Amazing (GF) fried chicken and all things delicious. Try the green chili mac n' cheese and beets and sweets.
It's New Mexican fare and absolutely delicious. They have great cocktails and yummy everything.
