Question

What is the attire?

Answer

We are requesting formal attire for the evening. What is formal attire? Formal gowns, sophisticated cocktail dresses, dressy separates, black tie or a dark suit with a nice tie. Please note that the venue is outdoors and has cobblestone hard scape. We will have flip flops available at the reception for those needing to escape their heels. Also please be aware we will be doing a second line. This requires a very short walk outside of the venue on both a concrete sidewalk and a grassy area. If you are unable to participate in the second line, alternatively inside the venue will be available to wait until reception begins.

Question

Bubbly will be served as you arrive beginning at 5:00PM. Please arrive by 5:30PM for outdoor ceremony. The second line will commence immediately following the ceremony with reception to follow.

Answer

We will provide transportation from Hyatt House and Virgin Hotel to Race + Religious and back at the end of the night! Please visit the “accommodations” tab for specific shuttle pick up times. Although there is limited self-parking available on the street around the venue, we recommend utilizing Uber, Lyft, Blacklane or taxi ride share options or the provided shuttle leaving from Hyatt House and Virgin Hotel so you can enjoy the open bar and party responsibly with us!

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

Question

Where do I sit?

Answer

Pick a seat not a side for the ceremony. For the reception, seating will be left open for guests to choose their own seats and tables.

Question

Are photos allowed during the ceremony?

Answer

We are having an “unplugged” ceremony. We kindly ask you to be fully present with us in this moment and keep your phones/cameras away. Our photographers are awesome! We will share the photos with you all. Please feel free to take as many photos/videos you want during the reception.

Question

Is there wedding entertainment?

Answer

Yes! A brass band will lead us in the second line and continue to play during cocktail hour. Then it’s dance time with our DJ for the rest of the night! A Tarot Card Reader will be set up to read cards during the reception located between the bar and food. Check out her website at https://neworleanspsychic.com.

Question

What is a second line?

Answer

The second line will begin directly following the ceremony and last approximately 15 minutes. This requires a very short walk outside of the venue on both a concrete sidewalk and grassy area. If you are unable to participate in the second line, alternatively inside the venue will be available to wait until reception begins. One of the most popular traditions during New Orleans weddings is the famous second line parade. At a wedding it signifies the start of a new beginning of life for the bride and groom. A Brass band leads the bridal party and the guests from the ceremony to the reception venue or it may take place at the reception itself. A second line parade has two parts. The first line is usually a brass band and the ones being honored, the newlyweds. The newly married couple leads the second line holding uniquely decorated umbrellas or parasols. All of the guests who want to join in the celebration make up the second line. The guests form a line behind the band and the newly married couple dance to lively music with handkerchiefs or cocktail napkins in hand!

Question

What is a New Orleans Style wedding reception?

Answer

We will be hosting a New Orleans Style wedding reception. Instead of a traditional seated dinner or buffet, our reception will consist of heavy passed items at the start of the reception, open action stations and buffets, with emphasis on lots of food options, lots of beverages, and a highly dynamic and social atmosphere that allows guests to move freely about the reception space. Seating will be left open for guests to choose their own seats and tables. We will have an a plentiful array of seafood, chicken, and beef with limited vegetarian options.

Question

Is there an open bar?

Answer

Of course! Premium spirits, speciality cocktails, wine, bubbly, and imported and domestic beer will be available in addition to non-alcoholic beverage options.

Are you registered anywhere?
