The Proposal

How we met

It's a "match"

Imagine two board teenagers downloading a dating app for fun, then they meet at a gym, start dating, fall in love, and then get married. No - but seriously. James and Tara met on a dating app called bumble. They didn't really talk until they realized that they went to the same gym. Tara suggested that they should workout together sometime (but she honestly had no intention of following through with that). James tried 2 times to get Tara to come to the gym but every time she blew him off with a dumb excuse - he had given up hope. Until one day she texted him and asked if he wanted to work out. James figured she was going to blow him off again but he had to go to the gym anyways so he said yes. Tara and James met in the parking lot of Chuze Fitness Englewood on June 7th 2021 at 8:35 p.m. They began working out together and then spending time outside of the gym hiking and going to the park. Before Tara left for college James asked her to be his girlfriend. After that, they did 1 year of long-distance until Tara decided she didn't like it and moved home. They then dated for another year, creating and making many memories together. This past summer they went up to Canada with James' family. In Canada on June 30th 2023, James asked Tara to spend the rest of her life with him and she said...

The proposal

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Is the response Tara had to James when he asked her to marry him. Actually, it was the only response she had for about 56 seconds after he asked her. Until finally he asked again and through tears, she said yes (you'll just have to see the video). James and Tara were in Canada for the summer with James' family on an island on Lake of the Woods, this is where the proposal took place. On the morning of June 30th 2023, Tara and James were supposed to go on a fishing adventure, but James had been up since 4 a.m. trying to plan the most perfect engagement. So he requested that they push their fishing trip back to the afternoon. During the family meeting that morning it was decided that that day was going to be a work day! So the family got to work (and Tara proceeded to remove all her fake nails while staining boards - so James then knew she had no idea he was going to propose). Lunchtime came around and the family decided to break and resume working after lunch. James then tried to convince Tara to go fishing with him during lunch. But as many know fishing isn't a quick activity and Tara felt bad for leaving in the middle of the work day. James proceeded by telling Tara that he NEEDED to get off this island and he was going crazy. Tara agreed with one condition - she needed a sandwich (little did she know James' mom already packed a cute lunch in the boat). So James' mom proceeded to make a bag full of bread - because why waste good ingredients - James just had to make sure Tara didn't open that bag. 10 minutes later...Tara and James arrive on a shoreline to have lunch and fish. Before James even had the boat tied up Tara was unpacking the lunch and removing the "sandwich" (which was actually just bread) from the bag. To her disappointment all she found was bread, and she was thoroughly confused and hangry at this point, but didn't think much of it. James played it off well and told her that they should just take some pictures and then go back to the house and get food. Upon placing the camera in the record position James got down on one knee and asked Tara to marry him. Her response was - "Are you serious?" But eventually she said YES!
