Date 1 Boy meets girl: We met at a bar called Harper and Rye and got along pretty quickly. Besides Mer being gorgeous, I could tell immediately how intelligent Mer was and how quick she was to call me out. I appreciated it. Mer quickly saw that I am completely flawless, the perfect example of a human being. Little did we know that one of my friends was also at the bar sitting above us. I looked down at my phone to see a text containing a picture of me trying to “woo” Mer. Looking at that picture now, she seems oddly uninterested. Date 2 Too much wine: For our second date it was a Tuesday. We decided to get dinner at Shalamar, a BYOB Indian restaurant. Despite Mer telling me on our first date that she rarely drank, I brought a bottle of wine. I drank 2/3 of the bottle, yet Mer seemed intoxicated. After dinner we went to another bar. Time flew. Mer then asked where we were going next, to which I replied “It is midnight on a Tuesday and you are drunk. You are going home.” Date 3 The home surgeon: Our third date happened after several weeks of rescheduling. Unbeknownst to me, just before we were going to meet, Mer went to shut her window and her hand went through the glass and got a very deep cut. We had already moved the date so many times, so she didn’t want to reschedule again. She called her surgeon friend who took a look and told her to go get stitches. She instead wrapped the cut and joined me for Sushi. She still has a scar on her hand. Date 4 The spicy shishito: Mer planned our fourth date for us to get dinner and meet some of her friends at a bar. At dinner, we ordered shishito peppers. I then ate the spiciest shishito pepper I have had in my life. After drinking two glasses of water I excused myself to the bathroom. I then excused myself to go to the bathroom every 20 min. for the rest of the evening. Her friends kept asking what was going on with me when I left… If we can make it through these 4 horrible first dates, we can make it through anything :)
