COVID Update

On June 20th, we became husband and wife! Jameson and I had a smaller, more intimate ceremony and it was an absolutely beautiful day! We saved the party for later and rescheduled our reception for September 5th. That IS still the plan! We understand everyone has different opinions and we respect whatever decision you make whether it is to attend as you are, attend with a mask, or not attend at all. Truly, we get it and will not be offended by whatever decision you make! We may need to make some modifications in the couple weeks prior to better accommodate the crowd, but we need to know who plans to come (or not come) to help us do so! So, please do us a favor and get in your RSVPs! If you are planning to attend, please provide your email and phone number so we can communicate with you if we make modifications. We can’t wait to officially celebrate with those that can make it! It’ll almost be like we pictured it. 😉

How We Met

Our history goes back farther than most know. We met in high school. Although he still doesn't admit to doing this, Jameson was singing "Boyfriend" by Justin Bieber at our friend's house the summer after my senior year/his junior year. Little did he know, JB was my biggest heart throb and although we already knew each other, this is when I "noticed" him for the first time. The rest is history... Okay, not exactly! Nothing big actually came out of this initial interaction, but it's how our friendship started.

How We Started Dating

Flash forward two years and Jameson and I see each other at a Hastings College party during break. This led to talking and texting a lot, we started hanging out, and a few months later we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend!

The Day It Happened

After four years of dating, Jameson joined my family for our biannual family vacation in Florida for Christmas. Florida is my favorite vacation spot and I was so excited for Jameson and I to finally get to experience it together. This would be also be Jameson's first time at the beach! On our second day in Florida, I was in full vacation-mode (aka napping on the couch). Although I didn't think much of it at the time, Jameson was quiet all day and kept to himself. If you know Jameson, he's usually pretty reserved, but he was abnormally quiet. Come to find out later, there was a reason for it!

The Backstory

When the marriage conversations started with Jameson and me a couple years prior, I had mentioned (probably/definitely more than once) that I would love to get married on the beach. That said, considering how involved I was and how ingrained we both were in Hastings, we knew that wasn't going to be realistic for us. Did I expect to get engaged then on the beach? No. Did I hope for it? Hell yes.

The Proposal

Anyways, I awake to my family telling me we have to hurry down to the beach for a family photo during sunset. Reluctantly, I get up and walk over with them. If you know me, I'm not the happiest when I wake up and that day was no exception. (Sorry, Jameson!) We get to the beach and take the most awkward family photo (my mom wasn't even in it). It's full of awkward laughs, me asking why everyone is acting so weird, and then everyone scatters after we get done. Fortunately, it was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNSET ever. Jameson and I start walking towards the water and he grabs my hand. I look down and Jameson is on one knee. Some words later, I say YES! Jameson got me my dream ring, he proposed with it in a seashell (I still have that seashell), and my family documented the whole thing for us! It was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. On December 23rd, 2018, we became fiances!
