We met in middle school at Costa Mesa High School. After graduating high-school James moved back to his native home town of Houston, Texas. The year I graduated from high school, James came down for the summer to visit. We were inseparable for the entire summer. As summer came to an end, I went on my way to San Francisco State University and James returned to Texas.. It was clear that within that time, we simply could not resist each other. We both ended up moving back to Southern California that following year and the rest is history!
It was the weekend of James 30th birthday party. In an effort to clear our heads before the birthday shenanigans ensued, James recommended that we go on a walk through one of our favorite, local nature trails- Back Bay. Little did I know, James had other plans! As we approached the top of a hill on our walk, James stopped and said he wanted to get a picture of me and the dogs.. Suddenly I was standing alone with the dogs and James was pulling something (a box!) out from his sweater. And then I heard it.. The clicking of a best friends camera (who is a professional photographer by the way, mhm) in the bushes, documenting the moment, and suddenly I knew it was on! James was on his knee.. IT WAS HAPPENING! I was blown away. What was supposed to be James 30th birthday blow out (with all of our friends and family present, from out of town, and all) turned into our engagement party. It was the best day/night for both of us!!
