How We Met

11.15.15

Her Story: Sunday, November 15th, 2015...I was studying at Bowie State's library with my friend (Lace!). That's when he walked around the corner. Handsome, dark chocolate, athletic build (just my type). ;-) He was walking towards us(!), because he knew Lace. As they talked, she introduced us and I sensed his demeanor right away...kind, humble, gentle. But I tried not to give it a second thought since for all I knew, he could just be a random guy. xD But I learned they were in campus ministry (Navigators) together, which he had just spoken at. And THAT got my attention even more. "This man is this attractive AND has a walk with God?!" That night I told God it would be nice to see him again. lol Although he had my attention, I played hard to get for the next 4 months since I was a cautious person. But one night, 1 Corinthians 13:7,8 softened my heart: "[Love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." I realized that was what Daniel had been doing all along, persistently pursuing me. And that was the beginning of our journey. <3 His Story: Faith and I met in the fall of 2015 at Bowie State University where I attended for undergrad. That evening, I was helping a friend prepare for his physics exam and Faith was there studying for a physics exam as well with our mutual friend. I greeted my friend and introduced myself to Faith. The first thing that stood out to me about Faith was that she spoke about Jesus with so much passion as if He was someone she knew personally and was in love with. I couldn’t help but notice she was extremely beautiful, intelligent, and had a big heart for God and people. After not seeing her the following week, I asked Jesus to allow me to develop a friendship with her. Thankfully she was there the following Sunday. Meeting Faith brought me so much joy, clarity, and confidence in the plans that the Lord had for me. I never knew He would allow me to do life with someone so beautiful inside and out.

The Proposal

11.20.20

Daniel proposed November 20th, 2020, at Quiet Waters park and it was the most beautiful and thoughtful thing. He led me to a bridge leading to a gazebo, and there lining each side of the bridge were both our families, each holding a red rose! I was so surprised and cried the whole time during the proposal. Quiet Waters was a special place to me because of the beautiful outdoor scenery and it was where we ran our first 5K together. After the proposal when we were alone, Daniel shared that he chose Quiet Waters because he sees life as a marathon, and just as we ran our first 5K together there, we were now about to begin a new marathon together in marriage. Sooo sweeeet. I could not have asked for a better proposal. It was so well planned, sentimental, beautiful, and meaningful. Daniel knocked it out of the park, no pun intended!
