While, I, Tasia, am the one sharing this story, it is one that James and I have written together. Before I met James, I heard his voice on a Faith RX'd podcast about his nonprofit, Kings of Grit. Although I didn't tell him until later, I loved the way his voice sounded and the way he spoke with passion about helping people. At the time, I was working for a Mayhem Mission so we connected in hopes of our nonprofits working together. Fast forward, a few months later, I traveled to Memphis for his fundraiser for Kings of Grit where we met in person. I was instantly drawn to James kind nature, strong faith, and how chivalrous he was. Over the weekend, we ventured out onto the Mississippi River and found a sandbar to sit and eat sandy tacos on. They literally had sand in them.. haha! Over the course of the following year, we would travel back and forth between Memphis and Cookeville to spend time together. We even met in Montana to go hiking and camping with James good friends, Katie and Alex. While there, I proved how outdoorsy I was by sleeping in James minimalist hunting tent that didn't have a floor.. if you were wondering, I very much liked him. Each month we learned more about each other, grew more in love, and started talking about what our future might look like together. On August 12th, James proposed to me on the Mississippi River, not far from where we had our "first date". I feel as though my life is just starting in a lot of ways. We know an adventure of a lifetime awaits! We know our love story is only orchestrated by God and we are so grateful for His perfect timing.
