Look for the water tower (it's hard to miss) to see where James proposed! And then be sure to check out the rest of Historic Trolley Square for fun shops and restaurants. Located In Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, Trolley Square was originally built by successful railroad Tycoon E. H. Harriman in 1908. It was the home of the Utah Light and Rail Company Trolley Car Barns till it was converted into a festival marketplace in 1972.
Ah man we had such a good time here when we went! Unfortunately, the Jane Goodall exhibit will have closed, but there's still billions of years of natural history to explore. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. After looking at the dinosaurs, the cafe/deck is not a bad place to set up your laptop and some get work done if you need to.
Tresor Jewelers (where we bought our rings) is in this mall! Plus it's just a fun, trendy mall in the heart of SLC. We've really enjoyed popping into the Clark Planetarium and checking out their late-night laser shows! Entry is free but laser shows cost extra. There's also fun escape rooms (Sara can attest), movie theaters, and a children's museum. Low-cost parking available.
If you’re coming from Salt Lake, take the I-215 to the 6200 South Canyons exit and continue on the U-152 towards Solitude and Brighton. This beautiful 15-mile drive takes about an hour to traverse roundtrip. From the main road, the canyon narrows almost immediately dropping into the dramatic alpine scenery.
It will be busy with General Conference October 5-6, but also extra fun! The SLC Temple renovations are underway, with angel Moroni back on top!
