We’re Getting Married!

It all started on a Wednesday night in 2016 when a quick meet for drinks turned into a 3-hour dinner. Rachael had a firm dating rule; no meals on the first date, only drinks so she can evaluate before she'd commit to a full dinner (where bailing or calling for backup was a tougher option!) Little did she know, the one time she decided to break that rule would be the last. James and Rachael spent the next two years sharing their interests of traveling the world, trying delicious foods and all kinds of active adventures. Their initial mutual interests and fondness for each other grew into a strong bond of love and friendship. Both independently and together, they've built a life in San Diego and can't wait to seal their love surrounded by friends and family in their home city.

While making dinner together after work in March 2019, James convinced Rachael that one of their friends "won" a free weeknight wine cruise in the San Diego bay. Rachael was so excited, as she can never turn down time on the water or wine. As the week went on, friends periodically "dropped out" and by Thursday, they had the boat all to themselves. Rachael found this to be a little strange, but then again, the words "free boat" and "wine" had her climbing aboard that ship Friday night! Little did she know, her family and friends were waiting for James to pop the question in a cramped cabin below deck the entire time! As they sailed into the sunset, James told Rachael to turn away from the view and look behind her and there he was down on one knee. Rachael said "yes!!!!" and then another surprise hit her hard as her family and friends jumped out of their hiding quarters and joined the celebration. It truly was the best night ever!
