We met in the Fall of 2020, we both enrolled at SUNY ESF and moved into Centennial Hall. Our dorms ended up directly across from each other, and since it was peak covid times, there was no one else in our cubby. We saw a lot of each other and inevitably started hanging out. We shared our first kiss on a warm September night star gazing in Oakwood Cemetery. Though, this wasn't our perfect time to be together... A few years passed and it was 2022, Nia was working at Plato's Closet and James stumbled in. Though time had passed, there was immediate sparks and James kept coming in to go "thrifting". After many visits, Nia finally asked James out. Our bond was immediately so special and after a few months we made a huge decision... lets move into the van and travel the country. This quickly solidified that we were meant for each other and the rest is history!

As the end of summer was approaching, Winnie suggested we do a Nia and Kaiser photoshoot, which was not out of the ordinary. Though, I was unaware that my best friend and boyfriend had been secretly plotting the perfect proposal. It was a beautiful summer evening and we arrived at Woodland Reservoir in Syracuse. We started to walk the loop with Kaiser, who was being exceptionally naughty this day, until Winnie realized we were going in the totally wrong direction. We eventually start making our way up the steep hill and made it to the top.... There is James waiting with beautiful sunflowers set up in the shape of a heart. I couldn't believe my eyes, I shockingly ran over to James. He got on one knee and asked me to marry him, I screamed yes and jumped so high in the air.
