FAQs

Here are some tips and answers to the many questions we have been receiving about a wedding in Spain.
Question

When should I plan to arrive in Madrid?

Answer

We recommend getting to Madrid on Thursday if your travel plans allow it, as we will be holding a Welcome Party on Thursday night. If you are also planning on making a trip around Spain, check out our "Traveling around Spain" section, which contains recommendations on day trips from Madrid, as well as other cities for a 2-3 day trip.

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Check the Madrid section for recommendations on hotels. Anywhere around Barrio Salamanca is centric and well located.

Question

What is the difference between a day and a night wedding in Spain?

Answer

Day weddings in Spain last all day long and they are a marathon of celebrations, with food and drinks provided all through the day.

Question

What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

The attire for the ceremony, and the reception is formal. Men can wear a suit and tie. For women, dress or formal attire. The protocol for "day-weddings" recommends dresses knee-long or below the knee, but not a long dress. Hats, diadems and head accessories are common in day weddings but are not required. If you want to wear one, this website (https://mimoki.es/collections/ver-todos-los-tocados-de-alquiler) has some popular options. If you chose to wear one, it is recommended that you keep it during lunch, and you can remove it for the dancing.

Question

What is the weather like in Madrid in May?

Answer

May is very unpredictable, with temperatures typically ranging from a low of 46F to a high of 72F. We recommend bringing a jacket or sweater in case it gets cold during the cocktail, which will be outside, weather permitting.

Question

How should I get around Madrid/Spain if I don't speak Spanish?

Answer

It is easiest to get around on foot or by cab / uber, or you can also explore the metro (in Madrid public transportation is well run and easy). If you do not speak Spanish and/or if you do not know Madrid well, use smartphones and hotel concierges to show cab drivers written addresses. Most restaurants and uber drivers will be able to converse in English.

Question

What beauty salon around the hotels could I go to?

Answer

Yes! Barrio Salamanca has lots of hair salons, some very close to Hotel Wellington. Some good options are Moncho Moreno - great for make up and hair - (www.monchomoreno.com), Tacha Beauty (https://tacha.es), and Salon Cheska, all really close to the Hotels.
