Both the ceremony and reception will be held outside, masks will be required and social distancing in place. There are also well under 50 people attending, meeting Connecticut's guidelines for in person gatherings at this time.
After working together in Continuing Ed at Manchester Community College, we met for our first date at Elizabeth Park with the roses in bloom. We walked and talked for hours (which, for extremely awkward people is impressive in and of itself). He was impressed with her love of Star Trek, and she was already falling for his jokes and smarts.
On our anniversary, we picked up some takeout sushi (because Covid shut down all sit-down restaurants). We set up a picnic in the park and reflected on our dates and favorite stories from our relationship. We finished up the sushi and decided to go for a walk around Elizabeth Park (where we had our first date). We walked to the gazebo and while I got distracted and was reading all of the love notes carved into the gazebo and I turned to point out a sweet one to see James on his knee and he said ”Marissa I have been thinking about this for a long time. I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?” I nodded my head about a million times, and we kissed! …. and then I realized I had not actually said yes, so I shouted it.
