Collin is Mattie's oldest brother and has always made sure that no one but him could make fun of her. Mattie's favorite memory with Collin is riding together on the back of the snowmobile sled and trying not to fall off.

Mara is Mattie’s cousin by blood and one of her best friends by absolute luck. She has an almost supernatural ability to sense when Mattis is anxious—usually before Mattie does—and instantly knows how to make everything feel okay, whether that’s with a calming presence, a perfectly timed joke, or a simple “you’re fine.” She’s thoughtful, hilarious, and endlessly supportive, and Mattie is so lucky to have her by her side on this day and in life.
