It all began with a message on May 1st, 2022. James slid into my inbox after triple hearting a photo I posted. He wanted to make an impression. He kept the conversation going, asking questions and showing real interest in where me and my group would be that weekend. I told him, but honestly, I didn’t think much of it because people ask about rides all the time, and I didn’t even realize we had spoken. That weekend, we crossed paths. I was about to load up my ATV and head home when his friends, Spencer and Robert Lotts, stopped me about basketball. And then, out of nowhere, James rolled the window down and said, “You forgot about me.” The second I looked at him, I thought, “Wait a minute…” He was sitting in that truck, smelling amazing and looking even better and in that moment, I couldn’t believe I had almost let someone like him get away. As I headed home from Franklin, we talked the entire ride until I made it home. We talked from the road all the way to my bed until I fell asleep. The very next day, he texted to make sure I made it to Alto safely. And from that day forward, we never stopped talking. Now here we are preparing to marry each other, raising two beautiful children, and building a life we love. Our journey hasn’t been perfect. We both have our quirks, and our ups and downs. But through it all, one thing has remained true: we’d rather face the tough times with each other than have good times with anyone else.
