James and Lindy first met during their study abroad program in Rome, Italy in the Fall of 2019. One night, many students decided to catch the last bus of the night for a night on the town. James and his friend Pat Alvis were sprinting towards the bus stop, with Lindy not far behind. Pat, with benevolent mischief up his sleeves, jumped onto the bus just as it was about to depart, pretended to look for seats, and then turned to James and said "Sorry James! There aren't any more seats." The bus doors slammed shut, leaving James and Lindy gasping for air and a little bitter that they had missed a night of fun. Little did they know that there were plenty of seats on the bus, and that this moment would result in a marriage. That night they walked around the vineyards on campus for hours, talking and getting to know each other. They soon realized that they had much in common, and particularly a love of the opera 'Marriage of Figaro'. James asked Lindy on a date and the rest is history!
