Things To Do

Washington, D.C. is where we met and fell in love. There's so much to see and do, but here are some places that are special to us.
Bar Pilar

Bar Pilar

1833 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 265-1751

Our first date spot! It's a cute, Hemingway-inspired bar and restaurant on the bustling 14th Street.

La Colombe Coffee Roasters

La Colombe Coffee Roasters

1346 Florida Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 795-7962

One of our favorite coffee and pastry spots! There are a few locations around the city so find the closest one. James' drink of choice is a pure black with a splash of creamer, Karly always goes for a black and tan with simple syrup.

Copycat Co.

Copycat Co.

1110 H Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (202) 241-1952

This is Karly's favorite restaurant in the city! Everything on the menu is amazing and the cocktails can't be beaten.

United States Capitol

United States Capitol

First Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20004
, (202) 226-8000

The reason Karly came to D.C. in the first place and a must-see if you've never been! Also nearby are the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and Botanical Gardens.

Jack Rose Dining Saloon

Jack Rose Dining Saloon

2007 18th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20009
, (202) 588-7388

Best whiskey bar in the world, and one of James' favorite spots. Try a Willett Family Estate Single Barrel Pick - Jack Rose's relationship with the Willett Family is the stuff of bourbon legend

Union Market

Union Market

1309 5th Street Northeast, Washington, DC 20002

Our second date spot, and a perfect location for meal-by-snack (Karly's preferred eating style)

United States National Arboretum

United States National Arboretum

3501 New York Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20002
, (202) 245-2726

Bash does his best zoomies here. Check out the old Capital columns and the Chinese and Japanese pavilions

National Mall

National Mall

Washington, DC
, (202) 426-6841

No trip to DC is complete without a walk along the National Mall - where we first met during adult kickball! Make a day of museums and monuments in America's backyard... but remember that the mall is 2 miles long. Karly's favorite monument is the Jefferson Memorial. James' favorite museum is the National Portrait Gallery.

Adams Morgan

Adams Morgan

Washington, DC 20009

The neighborhood where we first started to connect, and later the neighborhood between our apartments (Karly in Woodley Park, James in Dupont). During the day, AdMo is an eccentric collection of cafes, shops, and restaurants. At night, it gives the National Zoo competition for the name

Boundary Stone

Boundary Stone

116 Rhode Island Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC 20001
, (202) 621-6635

Our current local haunt - come for the Honey Hot Chicken Sandwich, stay for a quality lineup of local beers. For a divy-er feel, drop by Showtime Lounge across the street (cash only)
