It was July 2014 when they officially met, and at the time they were both working as part time employees at The Home Depot. Jocy was a cashier occasionally assigned to the garden section of the store, and JP was a sales associate in the garden department. JP says he instantly noticed Jocy when she had first started in April 2014 but never approached her until a few months later. Jocy also noticed JP and his Mr.Bad to the Bones demeanor, but would constantly hear from coworkers that he was very to himself and paid no mind to anybody. Until one hot summer day, when JP decided to approach Jocy while she was tidying up around the registers and formally introduced himself, shook her hand and offered her a bottle of water since it was so hot outside. Jocy found that extremely enticing, the formality and overall respectfulness of it all. Slowly but surely the small talks were happening. In between breaks, walking out from shifts, in between team tasks. However, none assumed more from it as Jocy did not feel like his type and JP did not think Jocy would be interested in someone older and more eccentric (I.e: tattoos). James bit the bullet one day, and before leaving for his shift, he stopped by Jocy´s register and began asking what her weekend plans looked like in which Jocy, trying to be all cool, said she didn't have any because she was more a ¨in the moment¨ kind of girl and would have to let him know. JP asked Jocy for her number, so he can give her a call to hopefully plan something out together. According to JP´s mom, Martha, she said JP was so ecstatic when he got home saying he got Jocy´s number that day, and if you were to ask one of Jocy´s best friends (Adri) she can tell you how excited Jocy was recalling how the number exchange went down. They went bowling on their first date, and after a night of JP kicking Jocy´s butt during their game (lane bumpers and all), they decided to continue dating and the rest is history. Almost 8 years later of adventures, love, laughter, smiles, setbacks, many accomplishments and beautiful growth, they are now tying the knot on September 30, 2022 and are feeling so blessed and happy to be doing so alongside all of their loved ones!
