Jiny's First Look

Oh, Hey You

I first noticed James at our cousins Tina and Josh Thachet’s wedding. As a single bridesmaid who was about to be done with school, I knew the unavoidable question about marriage was coming up. As the bridal party was about to take photos I noticed this kinda sorta cute guy come up to take photos. I remember thinking hmm… he’s cute but let's see what happens. I had a boy crush moment and was too much of a chicken to actually go up to him. As a firm believer of “if it's meant to be it’ll be,” I figured our paths would one day cross again. Little did I know what God had planned...

James' Story

Sliding into the DM

I first saw Jiny at the Chicago KYAA retreat. I was helping the organizers with the event and was overwhelmed by all the people I met. Jiny wasn’t at the icebreaker event nor the social event, so I never had a chance to talk to her and we only crossed paths at the retreat. Afterwards, I friend requested her on Facebook and Instagram and patiently waited for an opportunity to say hello. That moment came when she posted a story on her Instagram of college basketball's March Madness. I was impressed that she was into basketball and thought this would be the best chance to slide into her DM (direct messages) without sounding like a creep. It went something like this: ME: *replying to Jiny’s Instagram story* “Ahh what a great game so far!!” HER: “Yessss! So sad to see my team lose though 😢” ME: “Aww, did you go to school there or was that just your bracket pick for this year?” HER: “Nope, just a team I thought played well during march madness 🙂” ME: “Yes for sure!! I naturally almost always root for the underdog and was hoping they’d win too lol” The rest is history...
