Guests will want to fly into Dublin airport. If you're coming from the Boston area, both Delta and Aer Lingus offer roundtrip flight options. Typically, you'll leave Boston around 9 pm and fly through the night, arriving in Dublin around 8 am Irish time.
Our venue is in the city of Kilkenny, which is about 90 minutes from Dublin. There are various bus routes that travel from the airport to Kilkenny, as well as cabs that will take you for about 200 euro. We are looking into hiring a private bus to shuttle people from the airport to Kilkenny assuming that we may have large groups coming in at the same time. More to come on this!
We would not recommend renting a car. We specifically chose a venue in an urban setting to ensure our guests can explore on foot once they arrive. Kilkenny is an extremely walkable city and our recommended hotels are all within walking distance to our venue (5 min or less). For those who want to explore the country before/after our wedding events, just keep in mind that vehicles drive on the other side of the road, and the roads themselves can be very narrow. Ireland has great public transport systems for you to take advantage of!
We opted for a buffet style dinner, which allows guests to indicate what they'd like to eat on the day of.
For the Welcome Party on Thursday night (6/11), we ask that guests wear dressy casual attire! For the ladies, think sundresses, skirts, jumpsuits, etc. Men can wear collared shirts and pants (no shirts and ties necessary). For our wedding ceremony and reception, we are requesting semi-formal attire. The groomsmen will be wearing suits, so no tuxedos necessary. The bridesmaids will be in gowns, but feel free to wear more of a cocktail-style dress/outfit if that's more comfortable for you! Finally, for our "day 2" celebration, feel free to be as casual as you'd like. Think back-yard BBQ style!
