How We Met

I was 3 hours late and she still likes me?!

James: It was 2020. We were in the middle of a pandemic. We were 100 miles apart. How could we have met? Online of course! (This is where I have to give credit to Tony for convincing me to download Hinge. #ad) Only one swipe mattered, and it was a MATCH! Before I could use my trusty pick-up line, she messaged first. After weeks of constant texting back and forth, I set out for a week-long solo road trip. My first destination: Monterey, to meet this woman who caught my attention so strongly. I showed up with freshly baked zucchini bread. We talked. We laughed. We walked on the beach. We played tag in a parking lot. Something was different about Hannah. When I left, she told me to drive safe so she could see me again. I purposely made several stops on the drive so I could safely text her. And when I broke down the next day in the middle of the desert, I called constantly to tell her about the ordeal. As I figured out how to make my way home, only one thing was on my mind: seeing Hannah again. Hannah: How long can a woman be on a dating site before giving up? Too long! But when you least expect it, when you're ready to give up, you'll find your match. James was mine! From the second I saw him wave to me outside that Starbucks, I knew there was no one else for me! The rest is history! Well, I mean there was zucchini bread, and 100-mile late night drives to see each other, and teary goodbyes, but you catch my drift! Together: When we made it official, we talked about dates over Zoom, virtual movie nights, and other ways to stay connected from far apart. We rarely did any of that. Any opportunity we could find, we were taking turns driving the 100 miles to see the other. She was quickly drawn to Concord. To keep her grandfather safe, we were "vamping" in Monterey. It was an unconventional time to fall in love. Fortunately, we like to do things differently and always take the road less traveled! We cant wait to celebrate with you! #HingeCouple #Ad
