Erin and Mallory met at Oregon State University and were the best of roomies there and beyond. Their shared affinity for One Direction, Mal's cat Bear, and working at Java Stop provided a solid base for their continued friendship. Mal and her husband Taylor are Erin and James' frequent adventure buddies, with Astoria and Hood River as some of their favorite getaways.

James and Taylor met in the dorms freshman year at University of Oregon. Their mutual love of music, games, and excellent storytelling made them fast friends, which has grown into an over a decade-long friendship. Taylor's inherent kindness and loyalty has been a pillar of their relationship and has been pivotal in guiding James and Erin through the winding path of life that has brought them both together.

Erin's best witch! Erin and Erica met when she began dating Brock and was officially folded into the Portland crew. Erin loves Erica's sense of adventure and her abounding knowledge about all things natural and supernatural. Erica is the first person Erin calls when she wants a cozy night in with a side of freshly baked bread and some light tarot reading...but also the first call for a hike or some fun cocktails! Erin and James love spending time with Erica and her partner Brock, as well as their pups Tahlia and Percy.

Brock and James met in grad school at the University of Oregon and found kindred spirits in each other's charisma, intelligence, and love of the outdoors. James adores Brock's determination and tenacity and frequently draws inspiration from his dear friend. From grand adventures in Cuba to epic campaigns played out around the table top, their shared love of exploration and discovery has galvanized James and Brock's friendship over the years.

Friends since elementary school, Erin and Kelly previously ran a successful summer theater camp, kept in touch when multiple states separated them, and even now have a monthly Zoom trivia night with other friends and Kelly's parents. Kelly and Erin share a love of reading, reality TV, and of course a good snack. Erin is in awe of Kelly's fearlessness and confidence, and is honored to be one of her biggest fans (especially of her podcast Boobies and Noobies). Erin feels so lucky to share a state with Kelly once again, and has made it her mission to make this move a permanent one!

James' oldest friend, Tim has been there since the beginning. While their parents bonded over the shared experience of raising a child with disabilities, Tim and James were busy forging a friendship of building forts, picking blackberries, and reveling in the joy of boyhood. While forts have been replaced with homes, Tim and James still love to nerd out over board games and fantasy literature, not to mention enjoy discussing the confounding intricacies of the physical world.

Anne is one of James' most cherished friends from grad school, and was the first person to grill him about his first date with Erin. Ecstatic about the possibility of love, Anne has been a constant advocate for James + Erin since the beginning. When they met, Anne was quick to welcome Erin into the Portland friend group and the two quickly found friendship. They've shared Mimosa Mornings, apple pie baking, TV marathons, and 4th of July Airbnb adventures too!

Neither Robert nor James could have known that their random pairing and roommates freshmen year at the University or Oregon would turn into a life-long friendship. James was immediately enamored with Robert's enthusiasm and unerring kindness, and while freshmen roommate trivia might not have been less than prosperous, few friends share as strong a bond as these two. Robert's influence on James' life has been immensely profound, especially considering that Robert's wedding to his wonderful wife Emily was a nucleation point in James and Erin's relationship.

With a bond forged with reality television, Panic at the Disco, and French Silk ice cream, Natalie and Erin have an iron clad friendship. Natalie has not only traveled from California to be here, she's also sharing her Birthday date with Erin and James' wedding date! Natalie's fierce loyalty, infectious laugh, and caring heart are qualities that ensured Erin and her friendship maintain and flourish, even across state lines.

James has quickly embraced his soon-to-be brother in law, Erin's twin, Scott. The two have bonded around their shared love of travel, scuba diving, and all things brewed. James loves Scott's infectious positivity and enthusiasm for his friends and hobbies and cannot wait to call himself a part of Scott's family. While Erin is truly one of a kind, Scott's kindness and compassion is living proof of the values of the Nickell family.

Jamie is so special to both Erin and James. In the early days of the pandemic, Jamie, Erin, James, Brock and Erica were their own little bubble. Jamie has always been a supportive and calming influence on the couple while at the same time encouraging introspective communication and consistent self-work. Jamie's emotional honesty and emphasis on kindness and compassion continues to be a constant source of inspiration for James and Erin.
