We first crossed paths at LSU, where Emilie was bartending at JL’s Place and James was a familiar face at the bar. Though we shared many mutual friends, it wasn’t until late 2020 that we truly connected and started spending more time together. What began as easy conversation and playful banter gradually turned into something more—and after some persistence, Emilie agreed to a first date. In the summer of 2021, Emilie accepted a job in Houston, and our relationship became long-distance. It wasn’t always easy, but between early mornings, late-night drives, and countless flights, we found a rhythm and made it work. By May 2022, we were finally living under one roof in New Orleans—just the two of us and our cat, Frankie. Soon after, we added Miller to the mix (James may have had a hand in that name). Life together has been full of joy, laughter, and adventure. One of our favorite things to do together is travel, and during a trip to Boston—now one of our most treasured places—James proposed. After the wedding, we’re hoping to explore even more of the world, with dreams of Europe and Asia on the horizon. Our friends and family are everything to us, and we feel so lucky to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people we love most.
