It was October of 2014. Colbi had graduated from George Washington University a few months before and her friends encouraged her to try a dating app. James, having moved to the nation's capital from Miami for a new job, reached out. They met for drinks after work at a bar on 14th Street called Pearl Dive. And in this modern love story, the rest is history! After 6 years together in Washington - including 1 ankle surgery, 2 concussions, 3 moves, 4 job changes, 5 trips to Florida, and 6 summers schlepping to and from the Jersey shore - the pandemic hit, interest rates plummeted, and James said it was time to buy. Landing in Charm City, they were able to maintain access to DC, with the added benefit of reducing drive time to the shore. In June 2022 while playing a game of UNO on the deck of her parents' beach house, James popped the question! While Colbi wasn't entirely surprised in that moment (he started acting very strange in the minutes leading up to it) she was beyond thrilled and especially so that James's brother and sister-in-law pulled off a surprise trip to join in the celebration. Not known for being decisive, Colbi put wedding planning on pause and instead, in spring 2023 Colbi and James brought home the love of their life. Known as the hairiest and most beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog in all of Baltimore, Marley is thrilled that her parents are (finally) set to wed!
