Our first date was to see Jurassic World, but we originally met in 2006-2007 at Kennesaw State University through Chanda’s Sorors. The stars weren’t quite aligned then, but we found our way back to each other in June 2015. After a random Facebook post and an invite to the movies, Chanda immediately said yes, as she wasn’t going to let this second chance slip away. We have been together ever since!
James proposed at the Lights at Life University in Marietta. We both love Christmas lights and keep our tree up and lit throughout the year. Chanda made us late (as normal), but she didn’t know there was a set time to be there. In her mind, the lights weren’t going anywhere, so she took her time getting ready. Once we arrived and fought traffic to park, James insisted we go to see a big wreath light first, as he saw it online and wanted to get pictures there- even though it was on the other side of the campus. When we arrived at the light display, he suggested we take selfies. After a few pictures, Chanda turned around and saw James holding a ring box, and dropping down on one knee to propose. Unbeknownst to Chanda, James hired a photographer to capure the moment. Despite missing their original arrival time, he was able to caputure the special moment for a lifetime of memories.
