Camille and James originally met in their 7th grade history class when Camille was moved to James’s table. Though the interaction was short, they bonded over having the same last name. After meeting, they only shared brief interactions in passing throughout middle school and high school. One day when they were in their 20s, they swiped right on each other on Tinder. A first date over ice cream ended with ice cream soup due laughs and good conversation. Since their first date on September 7, 2018, they’ve been inseparable.
On a warm Friday evening in early June, James took Camille out on a museum night at the LACMA. However, Camille got stuck in Los Angeles traffic coming home from work, so they arrived there when the museum was closing. Despite that, the LACMA’s Summer Jazz Night was in full swing so they enjoyed that instead. And just like every other Friday night, they grabbed a pizza from their favorite pizza place, Esco’s Pizzeria. Except, the little faux subway car that was the restaurant’s main attraction was blocked with a curtain. To her confusion, James led Camille behind the curtain without any explanation. Behind the curtain was a candlelit room filled with rose petals, heart balloons, and a bouquet of Camille’s favorite flowers. That is where James dropped to one knee, and asked Camille to marry him. And of course, Camille squealed “Yes!”
