We matched! We met in Seattle, but grew up down the street from each other in Pennsylvania. It’s a long “street!” The early days of our relationship included tests of physical ability, drinking (date 1), rock climbing (date 2), and hiking (date 3)... for Becca to pass. After an all night transplant, an alpine start, a ferry ride to Orcas Island, and of course 3 Island peaks; James’s final rigorous schedule test was passed! We decided that despite the fact that James was moving to California, continuing to persue a relationship was a good plan. In true Becca style, as James was leaving for his new duty station, she asked him to have someone let her know “if he died falling off of a mountain” so that she wouldn’t just think that he had stopped texting. Imagine our surprise when this request was met by the eventual conversation that started “we’re not related but...” Thankfully, after carefully sketching out the family tree we determined that we could, in fact, continue to date! Whew!!?! Through a long distance relationship, a deployment, a car fire and many adventures later, James decided that his Tricare benefits were just too good not to be shared with Becca (who was just fine with her current insurance.) After a mandatory 3 day waiting period, we requested that one of our friends #getordained.org so that we could share life in the eyes of the law. After exchanging some legitimately meaningful vows, James and Becca got married on some day in the 20’s of November last year. Of course, this was not the wedding that Bridezilla had always dreamed of... so Becca is supporting James’s desire for a party to celebrate our life together and all of the important people in it! (That’s you!) So here’s the plan: We want to share our happiness with the people who have shaped our journey.
