Buffalo is most famous for it's chicken wings! One of the most contentious topics in Buffalo is where to get the best wing. For the history, we recommend you visit the original Anchor Bar (1047 Main Street), where the chicken wing was created. Another famous wing spot is Duff's Famous Wings (3651 Sheridan Drive). Anywhere you go, you're guaranteed to have a good wing.
Check out one of Buffalo's most popular natural wonders, Niagara Falls. Visit the State Park and take a boat ride on the Maid of the Mist, or put on your poncho for the Cave of the Winds Tour. Drive a little further to the Devil's Pool Trail and hike down to the bottom of the falls to be eye-level with the rapids.
Visit the downtown Buffalo area for great views of Lake Erie, great bites and drinks, and the home of the Buffalo Sabres. We highly suggest taking a stroll along Canalside where there is always something to do in all weather; peddle boats, ice skating, curling, and more! Or visit Buffalo's City Hall to see it's unique architecture inspired by Native American tribes in the area. Attend a Buffalo Bison's Baseball game if they're in town! Check out a show at the historic Shea's Performing Arts Center on Main Street or visit the countless craft breweries in the area!
Delaware Park is one of our favorite places in Buffalo! It is a great place to go for a walk, have a picnic, and see some of the many sites the park has to offer. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also designed NYC's Central Park, the park has a rose garden, Japanese gardens, canoes and swan boats in Hoyt Lake, and hosts free Shakespeare in the Park each summer. Next to the park are both the Buffalo History Museum and the newly re-opened Albright Knox Art Gallery!
The fort was captured by the British during the War of 1812, until being ceded again to the United States in 1815, after which time it served as a peaceful border post. Old Fort Niagara served as a training station and active barracks from the Civil War until the last army units were withdrawn in 1963. A fun place to tour with a pool and picnic areas.
Take a stroll down Elmwood Avenue, where you'll find many different bars and restaurants, Buffalo souvenir stores, great thrift and antique stores, and more! Some of our favorite spots include Second Chic for great thrifting, Cafe Aroma for a cup of coffee and pastry, and Forty Thieves for great brews and bites!
