Cancun, Mexico

It wasn't exactly love at first sight...

Ada's version: It all started in January 2017 when we both left our family and friends for the lifelong dream of becoming doctors in none other than the West Indies, Grenada. On what felt like the hottest day of the year, in 100 degree weather and 100% humidity, we trecked across campus to pick up 75 pounds of books and medical equipment. Covered in sweat, we made it up a hill and 2 flights of stairs (no elevator, mind you) to our dorm rooms. All of a sudden, Jimmy yells down the hall "HEY, that's a really good idea!" in regards to me carrying my books in my luggage as opposed to the flimsy cardboard box they gave us that was falling apart. Me, sweating uncontrollably, was in no mood to talk to anyone, so I tried very hard to ignore this strange man that was now quickly approaching me down the hall. And just my luck, the key was stuck and the door wouldn't open, so I was forced to talk to this weird, old guy. Jimmy's version: Low and behold, Ada's across the hall neighbor was in the hall talking with us. Ada's neighbor and I agreed to navigate and find the supermarket the next day and Ada asked to join so I begrudgingly accepted. The next day we meet at the bus stop and I tell myself to give Ada another shot and sit next to this fine young minx. She was mute the entire bus ride. I had it. No more attempting to befriend this young lady. Back to Ada: I spent a lot of time with Jimmy's roommate, Nabeel, who would quickly become one of my best friends in Grenada. Of course, this meant that I had to spend time with Jimmy too. Lucky me. Many nights of studying, pranks, and laughs turned into a little spark. Who knew. I started going to church with Jimmy, studying together, and finally after 2 years of being friends, Jimmy asked me on a date. Back to Jimmy: All along knowing good and well that we were an island fling as to not inhibit each others dreams, desires, or paths of becoming surgeons. By God's grace, Ada and I were matched up in the same hospital for our 3rd and 4th year rotations....shit just got real! And we fell in love, adopted the most perfect dog there was, and got engaged October 24, 2020. 4 years after getting engaged, we're ready to tie the knot! Please come join us for a whole week of celebration with loved ones and tequila in Cancun!
