We met at the Sparta Mardi Gras parade on January 30, 2016. James was an officer who was putting the support vehicles and marching bands into the parade line up. It was my turn to get behind my daughters marching band. He instructed me to pull up and I did as he asked. He wanted me to pull all the way up to his waist and I didn't because I was afraid I was going to hit him. We had a very comical conversation about me not following his direct instructions. Before I left we exchanged numbers and that was our beginning. We began dating towards the end of February. James and I spent a lot of time together and got to know each other and then we introduced our families. The both of us enjoyed traveling, football (Saints), eating, and enjoying life. Being a spiritual man was a major plus for me as well. We focused our relationship around God, our kids, and our families. W e had talked about marriage throughout our relationship and decided that we were in love and waned to be married. July 30, 2017, James proposed to me and together we couldn't be happier!
