In South Asian culture, weddings and events are often planned on shorter timelines, and things can occasionally feel fast-paced or last-minute, you're not imagining it! We’re so grateful for your flexibility and completely understand if you’re unable to attend. Just kindly let us know.
What to Wear Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable and confident in! We request no short hemlines, deep necklines, completely sleeveless tops, shorts, or shirtlessness. Western formalwear is totally welcome. Think longer dresses, blouses with trousers, etc. Traditional South Asian attire like lehengas, salwar kameez, or full-coverage saris are okay! This is also encouraged and celebrated but certainly not expected. There is no such thing as outshining the bride. We want you to go all out with colors and attire if you are able to!
💌 A Note on Invitations In Desi culture, digital invitations are completely standard and just as real as printed ones! 🥰 Thank you for embracing this with us. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out. We want you to feel informed, excited, and celebrated right alongside us.
Social & Joyful: Expect vibrant colors and delicious food. Flexible Timing: Events often run on “Desi Standard Time." Things may start a bit later or shift as the day progresses. This is totally normal! Gender Etiquette: In traditional settings, it’s common not to hug or shake hands with guests of a different gender, especially with elders. Smiles, warm words, and respectful distance are always appreciated. Privacy Reminder: Questions about the bride and groom, even casual ones, can be directed directly to to them (even if it seems like a small thing). We are happy to answer any questions!
Walima: A festive dinner to celebrate a marriage oftentimes with dancing, music, and celebration.
No *serious* public displays of affection (PDA), please — even for married couples — out of respect for the setting and community.
All food will be halal (prepared according to Islamic guidelines, such as no pork or alcohol). Food will be served buffet-style. Vegetarian options will be available (palak paneer or chana masala). If you have additional dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate!
Digital RSVPs are the norm in our culture, and we’ve reserved 2 seats for you! If you are unable to attend, please let us know. We promise there are no hard feelings! Your honesty helps us plan thoughtfully.
