Chelsey and James have gone to school together since the 6th grade, but it wasn’t until much later in 2013 when they finally connected. They were both on winter break and crossed paths while playing pick-up soccer with mutual friends. On New Year’s Day 2014, Chelsey was playing soccer again when she unfortunately was injured and tore a few ligaments in her knee. Back at Ohio State a week later, she was surprised to see a text message from James checking in to see how she was recovering. A couple of days after her knee surgery later that month, James came to visit her and brought over flowers and a movie. The rest is history.

James and Chelsey planned a trip to Colorado in the summer of 2018. After hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Forest and whitewater rafting down the Roaring Fork River in Aspen, they had a sunrise hike planned on the morning of their 4.5 year dating anniversary. It was a cool morning at the Maroon Bells, right outside of Aspen. Just as the sun was coming up over the peak of the mountain, James got down on one knee and popped the question. Chelsey said “Yes!!!” immediately, not knowing that there was a photographer nearby capturing the whole moment. The couple celebrated their engagement with a trip to Telluride and Colorado Springs.

Chelsey and James will be getting married on September 26th, 2020 at Oak Grove in New Albany, Ohio. They cannot wait to celebrate their next adventure alongside family and friends!
