Matron of Honor
I practically raised her and shaped her into the person she is today. Not really, I blame my parents for that. But she’s my sister, and there’s no way I’m doing this without her. (If you hear an inappropriate laugh during the most sentimental moments at the wedding, it’s probably her).
Best Man
I've known him his entire life. Being the big brother means I do everything first. Being the little brother means he does everything better. He's the best man I know. I really do look up to him, and it's not just because he's taller.
Maid of Honor
My best friend for almost 20 years. According to my parents, our first and last fight was in middle school and lasted a week—they said I was miserable without her and it never happened again. At this point, she’s stuck with me FOREVER.
Groomsman
We've known each other longer than any other groomsman. . . by default. Born only one day apart, Emmanuel is my twin cousin. The only reason I'd admit he has more wisdom is because it's made evident by the hairs on his head.
Bridesmaid
She's the reason why James is as amazing as he is. He always says his sister is the female version of him, so by default I know her well. And all the things I don't know, I look forward to learning as we grow closer as sisters.
Groomsman
We met in middle school and have seen each other go through the many stages of life. The stories we share are equal parts side-splitting, stupid, and savage. But when the stories come to an end, he's more of a brother than a friend.
Bridesmaid
Although we were in two different states, our parents made sure we saw each other every year growing up. Distance didn't keep us apart, and proximity didn't cause us to hate each other (which held true even after she let me live with her in Atlanta).
Groomsman
We met at an orientation for our pre-engineering high school program, and have been close ever since. This isn't surprising since we made up 2/3s of the black students that finished the program.
Bridesmaid
I'm not sure I would have made it through bar prep if it weren't for this girl. Bar prep brought us together, but our relationship far surpasses what we formed in school. If you hear me on the phone, and three hours later I'm STILL on the phone, I guarantee it's Clarissa. She knows me in and out.
Groomsman
He's the reason Tasha is the Matron of Honor, and I'm honored to call him my brother-in-law. As both of our marital relationships continue to grow, so will our brotherhood.
Bridesmaid
When you see me flying around the world—wandering the streets of Cuba and hiking volcanos in Italy, blame this girl. My law school Day 1, the one who would text me the answers to questions when the professor called on me and I had no idea what they were talking about….and now my go to travel partner. Next adventure—getting me married (but first, Norway)
Groomsman
Remember the show Rob and Big? Our unlikely friendship grew out of a healthy mix of heavy lifting and light-hearted conversations. Believe it or not, he does the heavy lifting. . .
Bridesmaid
My little Geechee girl. We sat in the same row our first year in law school and although we were a few seats apart, we found each other. No matter how much time passes without us seeing each other, when we get together we’re right back at it like we never left.
