Salisbury House was built in the 1920s by cosmetics magnate Carl Weeks and his wife Edith. The home was modeled after the King's House in Salisbury, England. The historic home contains authentic 16th century English oak woodwork, English flint work and rafters that date back to the time of Shakespeare. Salisbury House is graced with the family's original collection of artworks, tapestries and antique furnishings.
Weather permitting, the ceremony, dinner, and dancing will be outdoors. The cocktail hour will be both indoors and outdoors. Guests may enjoy self-guided tours of the (air-conditioned) manor, where they can admire the 16th century English architecture and world-class collections.
We kindly ask that all guests dress in formal attire. We encourage dressy attire for a fun-filled evening!
Partially. The gardens (ceremony space) can be accessed from the west parking lot, requiring steps. They also can be accessed by passing through the house from the North Circle Drive drop off. This entry point requires fewer stairs or an alternate gentle grassy slope. Please let us know (319-931-0226) if you would like an usher to assist you with the steps. The historic nature of the house makes it handicap accessible only to a degree. Guests interested in exploring the second floor can utilize a small elevator upon request. However, there are a couple of steps leading into the bedrooms. The restrooms are handicapped accessible.
Accessible parking is available on the north side of Salisbury House in the circle drive parking area. Drive up the main parking lot around the west side of the building and keep going past the garage following the road to the right. Enter through the north door under the arched entryway.
There is limited parking in the Salisbury House parking lot. On-street parking is available along the south side of Tonawanda facing east. We strongly suggest carpooling or RideShare.
