We met on the app BLK. Sort of. We both had the app but rarely used it. I randomly opened it up, after not using it for a while, and his profile was the first to pop up. I scrolled through his profile and was like "Oh he's cute". I saw he had his instagram tag in his bio and decided to check it out. Casually scrolling through his instagram, I finally decided to follow him. A few moments later, he followed me back and commented on a picture. He said "Your smile is gorgeous". Me being me, I liked the comment and left it as that. I kept going back and forth in my head about responding. I kept telling myself 'how are you going to give the dating app a chance if you don't engage with these people'. I personally preferred meeting people in person but clearly that wasn't working either. So later on decided to respond and said thank you. Not even a minute later, he was in my DM's lol We've been locked in ever since.

First, let me start off by saying that I had never downloaded a dating app in my life but the one time I decided to give it a try, I found the love of my life. As soon as I created my profile and finally decided to use it, I came across this beautiful woman name Shakia. I thought to myself 'Damn she's gorgeous. I wonder if her personality matches her looks". So I swiped right. The funny thing is, we didn't even talk on the app. She added me on instagram instead. I comment on one of her pictures, telling her how gorgeous her smile was. She responded with a simple thank you. So, you know I had to slide into her DM's - lol She's been my person ever since!

Shakia - We were laying in the bed, having a general conversation, and I said "You haven't asked me to be your girlfriend yet" Jamel - So then I said "Do you want to be my girlfriend?" Shakia - Then I said "Don't ask me to be your girlfriend now since I said something lol" Jamel - "Oh so you don't want to be my girlfriend?" Shakia - "I didn't say that" So we made it official after that.
