We met in March of 2020, during Covid. I was working at FEDEX as a temp employee and I decided to roll over to a full time employee. It was the first day of orientation, I made it about 15 minutes early and took a seat in front of the class. Santo arrived 15 minutes late and sat at the back of the class. I turned around as he walked in and noticed how tall he was and how much hair he had. I thought he was cute. We had a 30 min break to eat and make phone calls. When break was over Santo was in front of me and held the door open to let me in. He said I had a mean mug and knew not to talk to me that day because he thought I was mad about something. LOL. The next day of orientation me and Santo arrived about the same time. I noticed it was him driving the white challenger because he had so much hair on his head. I walked in the building and signed my timecard and he walked in after and he stood by me. But he didn’t say a word. I’m thinking,he’s just nervous because I keep catching him looking at me. So, I started praying to God to give me a sign. I prayed that we would sit next to each other in class and if we did, I would know I was supposed to get to know him. (Santo also prayed about this as well). The instructor started calling our names in alphabetical order. She called his name and he sat down next to me. We sat through class and it was time for a break. He started talking to everyone around me but never to me. So, I decided to join in on his conversation. They were talking about the University of Memphis (which I was attending). I said that I went there and that I thought it was a great school. We spoke for the last 10 minutes of break, talking about the basics. Class was over and we walked out of the building together and talked some more. He walked me to my car and he left. The next day came and I knew I would see him, so I dressed up a little bit. I was looking for him as I walked down the stairs but I didn’t see him. When I made it to the bottom of the stairs, two of the people who were in orientation with us, ran up to me asking if I could wait for Santo to come back from the bathroom. They said he had been looking for me and had the whole orientation class looking for me because he forgot to get my number. I told them I could only wait a few minutes because I didn’t want to be late. The minutes passed and I had to leave. They told me to try to meet up with him tomorrow and that he really likes me. The next day came and Santo made sure he was going to see me. He stood by the stairs and watched everyone walk down until I finally showed up. The first words out his mouth was “I keep forgetting to ask you for your number, so I’m gonna to ask for it first this time” I said “How am I going to give it to you, we don’t have our phones”. Someone from the orientation group said “I have a pen, write it on his hand”. While I was working, all I could think about was him. When I would see him next, what we would talk about, our first date etc. I thought about how romantic it would be if he was outside waiting for me to get off work so we could talk a little longer. Work was over and I was still daydreaming about him waiting for me after work. When I made it to the doors, I was looking around the parking lot to see if I saw his car anywhere… and it was! He had fallen asleep in the car waiting for me to get off. This became our routine. We’d talk until the sun came up and even have a bible study from time to time. Fast Forward 6 years later and we’re getting married!
