Jamaal and his future bride first crossed paths in 2018 in the most unexpected place—a Food Lion grocery store. She was a junior in college at the time, picking up groceries for the week, when she found herself in Jamaal’s checkout line. Noticing her tall, athletic build and healthy food choices (salmon and kale) Jamaal casually asked if she was an athlete. She smiled and explained that she used to play volleyball, which led to a lighthearted conversation and an offer from Jamaal to become her personal trainer. What started as a simple connection soon blossomed into something much deeper. Their training sessions quickly gave way to a growing bond that neither of them anticipated. Whether they were working out at the gym, studying together for her nursing exams, or enjoying movie nights, they became inseparable. Their connection grew stronger with each passing day. Over the course of seven years, their love has deepened and matured. They have been each other’s greatest support through many milestones—Jamaal graduating college, Saudia purchasing properties, and both deciding to return to school for a second time. They’ve also leaned on one another through some of life’s heaviest moments, including the heartbreaking loss of Saudia’s beloved father, Walter Brownlee. At the core of their relationship is a shared commitment to always prioritizing each other’s hearts, dreams, and well-being—through every mountain and every valley. As they look forward to a lifetime of love and partnership, they hold close the words from Proverbs: “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22). For Jamaal and his bride, this union is more than love, it’s a blessing. What makes their love story even more special is the foundation it’s built upon: God. From the beginning, they have strived to keep Him at the center of their relationship. Their faith has guided them, strengthened them, and reminded them that love is not just a feeling—it is a choice, a commitment, and a covenant. As they prepare to step into marriage, they are anchored in the truth of Ecclesiastes 4:12: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” With God as the third strand in their bond, they know their love will endure every season and grow even deeper with time.
