We want to take a quick minute to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who have been a part of our lives, both individually and as a couple, and love story. You each mean so much to us and we cannot wait to celebrate with you as we enter into the sacrament of marriage (finally!!)! As the day draws closer, we cannot help but feel extra blessed by all of the outpouring of love and support shown by you as we become husband and wife. We are so excited to see each and every one of you and cannot wait to meet you on the dance floor (so please remember to bring your dancing shoes) on the big day! -Aly and Jon
Alyssa and Jonathon met freshman year at a college dance, where Aly proceeded to win Jon over with her her sweet, fantastic, impeccable "chicken dance" dance moves (she also did an elephant dance, but we won't go into too much detail on that one)! Jon made the first move, Aly said "I love you" first, and here we are over six years later celebrating the love and mutual weirdness God brought together!
On January 27, 2018, Jonathon and Alyssa took a road trip up to Duluth, Minnesota. They had planned on visiting the little lighthouse up there, eating at their favorite restaurant, and just walk along the boardwalk (ya know, typical cute winter things). However, Jon kept driving - straight through Duluth and straight up the North Shore, ending their journey at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Once they arrived, Aly was PUMPED to see the lighthouse and take a ton of pictures (she loves lighthouses). Looking around, she noticed "the spot" - the one where everyone takes a picture from down on the rocks below with the lighthouse in the background. After mentioning to Jon that they should come back in the summer to see the lighthouse from that angle, Jon simply stated that they should right then and off they went! Aly was pretty oblivious and just looking around at all the trees, the snow flurries, and the beautiful, beautiful Lake Superior, not really taking notice of much else. Once they got down to the rocks, making their way to "the spot," Aly started taking pictures of the lighthouse with the disposable cameras they brought, not really paying attention, and talking to Jon about how freaking cool the lighthouse was. After getting annoyed that Jon wasn't responding, she turned around to find Jon on ONE KNEE!!!!! Jon started saying the most incredible things (we assume he did at least, since Aly seemed to have blacked out a bit), and Aly started crying (obviously) and fell over from excitement and happiness. Aly's best friend was there taking pictures of it all too! After a short photoshoot, Aly and Jon drove home, stopping in Duluth at one of their favorite restaurants to reflect on the day so far and enjoy the moment. As they were heading home, Aly thought they were just going to have a nice, quiet dinner with her parents to celebrate, BUT instead came home to find Jon had planned a surprise engagement party with their families and friends to celebrate!
