How We Met

Our love story first began a few weeks before the pandemic when pictures of PJ's hunting adventures caught Kevin's eye. After months of back and forth banter and failed meet up attempts (thanks COVID restrictions), we finally got together for our first in-person date in July. Kevin will tell you that it was love at first sight - he knew the moment he saw PJ drive by in her expedition and subsequently exit her car that she was the girl he was going to marry. Our first date lasted for 3 hours and survived interruptions from well meaning friends (and their parents) and long wait times due to the large crowd for steak night. After their first date, PJ knew that Kevin was something special and agreed to a total of four dates in one week.

The Proposal

Kevin was a man on a mission when he decided it was time to buy THE ring and set out to find the perfect one. After countless hours of researching diamonds and settings, he setup a time with a local jeweler to view the diamond and get the ring made. Little did he know that PJ would not take his absence from the Jaloway fishing weekend well. Kevin missed several line runs while visiting the jeweler and faced countless questions from PJ regarding his "secret" errands. Undeterred, Kevin proceeded to ask PJ's mom for permission, as well as her uncles and cousins (Marshall and Tyler). PJ's uncles have stepped in to the father role in her life since her dad's passing, and have filled his shoes well. Although, there is some question to their motives as Patrick told Kevin when he asked for PJ's hand that they would not except returns or exchanges. Once Kevin had the ring, he could not wait to pop the question. He looked at the ring each day when PJ was busy doing other chores and on Tuesday (only 3 days after buying the ring), he asked PJ if she would like to visit her river property to take the girls' (Cora and Mazie) pictures in the Indian Paintbrushes. PJ agreed and they lined up dinner plans. The local BBQ restaurant attempted to foil his plans by making them wait an hour for their food, but they persevered and finally made it out to the river. As PJ stood up from taking the girls' picture, she turned around to see Kevin on one knee. Kevin popped the question in the field surrounded by beautiful paint brushes and their sweet pups. It couldn't have been a more perfect day!
