Jaksen and I (Sofia) were both blessed with the opportunity to live at the John Paul II Newman Center our first years of college. While this is where we first met, we didn't actually interact much until our second year of living there. We had both noticed each other, but didn't really get to know one another until Jaksen started hanging out more with our mutual group of friends. We began spending more time around each other—playing basketball, spikeball, and volleyball, and all the things with friends—and before long, we had each developed a little crush on the other. But of course, neither of us wanted to make it obvious. After several long months of hoping that he would ask me out, he finally did! One day I was riding the Newman elevator down, it stopped on third floor, and I bet you can guess who was standing there when it opened! After a few minutes of very awkward small talk, he asked me on a date- and according to him, I said "yes" before he even finished asking... you could say I was pretty excited! The next day, we had our first of many dates at Blue Sushi. Jaksen even learned to use chop sticks just to impress me- I guess it worked;) After a few more dates, we made it official, and it has truly been the greatest gift since! We are so incredibly grateful for this beautiful life we have been given, and are so joyful as we enter into this lifetime as husband and wife! All glory to God for the sweetness of love!
