Jake and I first met at a mutual friend's bonfire when I was in the 10th grade and he was a senior. It was past my curfew and he offered to drive me home, so naturally I pulled my friend aside and asked her, " is this guy weird," and after she convinced me that he wasn't, I let him drive me home. While in my driveway he told me that we should get together again sometime, and so, a few days later I messaged him on Facebook to ask him when that would be; the rest is history. Though we went our seporate ways the summer after he graduated, we reconnected in October 2017 and have been inseparable ever since.
It was Christmas morning and I had just gotten home from working my morning shift as I began preparing for our big Christmas lunch. He had just gotten back from helping a friend "move furniture," and as I was stirring my sweet potatoes he snuck up behind me, knelt down on one knee, and asked me to be his best friend forever. I was so caught off guard that it took me a good 5 minutes to respond, but eventually I said yes! Later that day I found out that when he said he was "moving furniture" down the road, he was actually driving halfway to Alabama to grab the ring from his sister because its shipment had been delayed due to Christmas overflow.
